Catching up!

Oh my gosh I'm such a slacker! To be honest, I hate going to my basement to use the computer and it's too time consuming to post from my phone. BUT my incredible hubby just got me a laptop so that will make it much easier.

Where to start? Oh my, it's been busy since my last post. The kids are awesome! They turned 3 on June 8th and we had a huge Mickey/Minnie party. It was a blast!  A lot of work but sooo worth it. We took them to Disneyland in May and it was amazing! They had sooo much fun. Actually, I don't know who had more fun, them or us! And they did great! No meltdowns, no tantrums. Tears occasionally but they really were so much fun! They went on a plane for the first time and you would have thought they were seasoned pro's. Also, they had zero issues staying in the hotel which was also a first. Such good kids! We surprised them with the trip so they had NO CLUE until the morning we left. We just got them up and were like "hey, let's go to Disneyland!" Sooo now they think it's just that easy but they have no idea!

Winter was blech. I'm so glad it's over and we can enjoy the summer weather. Not looking to forward so snow already. :) The transition from 2 to 3 has been a bit bumpy. The "terrible 2's" didn't affect us much. They were loads of fun and generally very good kids but OH MY GOSH it has been different since they turned 3. Like, since the day they turned 3. Someone took my angelic 2 year olds and replaced them with 3 year old monsters! They talk back, they disagree, they want to do everything their way. Rylie is a BOSS! I mean, she calls the shots, just ask her. :) We have been bumping heads because she is trying to take over the role of queen of the house but that is just not going to happen! Silly girl! Max is still pretty mellow and go with the flow but he is also starting to have an opinion about things and isn't afraid to voice it.

We had a very scary incident the other day with Max. We took them to the playland and McDonald's for breakfast and then we were going to go see Despicable Me 2. As they were playing in the playland, an employee was mopping (while the kids were playing mind you) and he came running towards us and slipped on the wet tile. He fell flat on his back and whacked his nogging pretty damn good on the tile. It rung his bell to say the least. He was knocked cold out! It was the scariest moment of my life! I panicked, my husband panicked, I tried to call 911 and was put on HOLD for 2 minutes! ON HOLD?! Seriously??????!!!!!! Anyway, he came to and was very spacey. We got him in the car and took him to the ER. They examined him and said he had a mild concussion. No signs of anything too concerning so we opted out of a CT Scan which I'm so glad we did. We took him back today for a follow up and the Dr. said everything is looking good. Thank goodness. This is the 3rd ER visit this year. We are tracking very well so far! :) Max went in February for a super high fever. Turns out he had a urinary tract infection. Rylie went in April. She fell while holding a bowling ball and hit her chin on the ball splitting it open. 10 stitches total, 2 inside, 8 out. That was another super scary incident. They were with my parents on that one so I got a call from my Dad at work. I cried the whole way up to the hospital. My poor little lady. But she is all good. A small scar but it will fade a bit in time.

I could say I'll update more but let's be honest. :) Let's just say, I'll see ya when I see ya!

Potty training!

Hi, yes we are still here! No one is probably reading anyway but I just want to update mostly for my personal records of what's going in at our house these days.

We are potty training!! The kids are doing great! We started last Saturday and they have caught on to day training really well. I'm not using any diapers or pull ups. The last diaper I put on their cute little butts was last Friday night! The nighttime training still needs a lot of work. They haven't been able to catch on to recognizing that sensation of having to pee and allowing it to wake them up before they go. Needless to say, they have woken up every morning wet. :( But during the day the are doing amazing! They both caught on so much faster than I expected. The pee pee accidents have been minimal and they have had ZERO poop accidents! They are pooping in the potty! If they do have an accident, they catch themselves before they finish so I am able to take them into the bathroom and they finish in the potty. They take the initiative to go into the bathroom when they need to go and to tell us they have to go. I'm not quite sure yet what to do about nighttime. I think we'll stick to this a bit longer (consistency is key) and see what happens. If we need to start putting them in pull ups at night then so be it but for now we'll just stick to this.

The kids are now 28 months old and they are doing AMAZING! They are so funny and smart I just am in awe of them everyday. They are talking up a storm and I just can't believe the things they come up with. Ha ha!

Hi, sleepy.

Yesterday morning I was laying in bed listening to the monitor. Rylie woke up before Max and this is what I hear:

Rylie- "Bubba, bubba, BUBBAAAAAAA!"

I look at the monitor and Max is still sleeping but starting to wake.
In the sweetest little sleepy voice I hear:

Max- "Sissy..."
Rylie- (in the sweetest little mothering voice after just yelling at him to wake up) "Hi! Hi sleepy."

Oh my heart melted. It was the cutest, sweetest thing ever! I just love waking up to these two being so excited to see each other. They truly are best buds and love each other soo much! They can't stand to spend time apart and can't even be in a different room than each other. They are always very concerned about each other. When I give one a treat they make sure the other gets the same treat. They are so dang sweet and loving.. even though they fight like crazy over toys!

Happy Tuesday!

Spring colds suck!

I felt very fortunate that we made it through the entire winter without getting sick. All 4 of us had a gastro thing in November but hadn't been sick since. In January I started using On.Guard essential oil from Do.terra in a diffuser in the nursery. I think that really seemed to help. Until 6 weeks ago!.... Actually, it was the first day of spring. The kids came down with a cold. Then the hubs and I got it. We made it through and I was still happy that they got only 1 cold all season. Then 2 weeks ago they got a runny nose and a cough again. Hubby and I made it through this one without catching it. Phew!! Then Friday last week they started with runny noses again! OMG! I'm really over it. Plus, I caught it this time, tenfold! I missed 2 days of work this week. It completely knocked me on my booty. I had the kids on Tuesday and I was miserable. No rest for me that day. Not with two crazy almost 2 years old running around like maniacs and getting into everything! So yesterday I sent them off to my MIL's so I could have some rest. But... it was weird and silent and strange. I'm NEVER home by myself anymore. Not since I've had my babies. I didn't know what to do with myself. I kept thinking "hey, I've got uninterrupted time here. I need to clean and do this and do that and get sh** done". All I could think about were the germs flying around my infected house so I cleaned. I cleaned slowly as my energy level is NIL but I disinfected my kitchen, the great room and the nursery. Those are the places the babies spend most of their time. It took me all day because I kept having to take breaks and sit on the couch. Daytime TV sucks by the way!! So now the house is clean, babies are on the road to recovery. Their noses aren't running anymore and they still have tiny coughs but they are good. Mom on the other hand is back to work because I have no choice. My head feels like it's in a vice. I'm so stuffy it's driving me crazy. I hate hate hate being stuffy!! Give me a sore throat any day but not a stuffy head. My cough makes me sound like I'm dying. Man alive!! Why do the adults seems to get this stuff worse than the kids. Thankfully, we've all been vaccinated for whooping cough so although it was always in my mind to pay attention to their coughing, I felt assured that we wouldn't have an issue. I'll be fine. Just needed to vent! :) Hey, at least I blogged twice in a week right? Ha ha!

Update on our life!

Oh my goodness, it's been a while! Everything is great! The kids are almost 23 months old! I can't believe it! I am starting to plan their birthday party. This year we will have an Elmo theme. They are obsessed with Elmo, and Barney but I try to forget the latter as he completely annoys the crap out of me! Anyway, I found some freakin adorable Elmo decorations on Etsy. I will be doing a much smaller party this year. We are just having immediate family and 1st cousins ect this year. So I'm still looking at about 25 people but much better than 75 people like last year.

The babies are amazing! They are so much fun! Everyday they make us laugh so hard. They talk like crazy. Rylie more than Max but they both have an incredible vocabulary. It is so funny to see the little things we say and do that they catch on to. They play pretty good with each other most of the time but they do have their sibling spats over toys and whatnot. They still can't be without each other. They get very concerned if one is in the other room and they can't see them. We've started implementing "time out" for naughty behavior. They absolutely know the things they can and cannot do but they are getting to that age where they are testing their boundaries. It's hard, as a parent, because I want all of our time together to be fun and happy but I feel like so many things are becoming a fight because they want to see what they can get away with and it just isn't going to happen! I know this is all part of parenting but sometimes I so badly just want to give in to them but I HAVE to stand my ground!

They LOVE being outside! We need to buy more outdoor toys such as a water table, little pool ect. We have a slide that is in the backyard and they have a ball on that but I need more things to distract them while we are out there so they don't want to get into stuff they aren't supposed to. We have a park and playground right behind our house which is awesome but we only have a small 3 rail vinyl fence in the back and no fence on one side of our yard. So needless to say they can get into the neighbors yard and climb under the fence into the park. These two are wylie let me tell you. It's so hard to be alone outside with them and keep them from running in opposite directions and get into trouble. Hence, the outdoor toys to distract them!

I LOVE having these 2 little miracles. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to loose my mind BUT they really have made me feel complete and we have enjoyed them soooo much! Hopefully I'll be updating more. I'm on here everyday reading other blogs but just don't want to put the time into updating mine. I feel like I am missing out on documenting my babies lives by not posting so I need to get better at that.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Amazing!

It's been a long time. :) The babies are incredible! They are almost 17 months old and have grown like weeds.  They are like little kids now, not babies. I need to start updating more because I don't want to miss everything they are doing right now.

Last night we went trick or treating for the first time. It was a blast!  My parents and Jason's Mom went with us. They were hilarious! They were so excited seeing all the kids and they even knocked on doors. I can't describe how it feels to live the excitement of things through your kids.  It's like the same way you felt as a kid but so much better! Max was a Green Bay Packer quarterback and Rylie was a Green Bay cheerleader.  They were freakin adorbs!

Rylie is talking so much! She will pretty much repeat anything we ask her to say. She says "cheese" when she sees a camera.  She calls herself Ry Ry and she calls Max Bubba (my nickname for him) or Ma. She is so close to actually saying Max.  She can't get enough of her Daddy and she gives the best loves.

Max is talking but not as much as Rylie. I think he has his own little language. He knows what he is saying and just rambles on with his mumble jumble. :) I think he is holding out on us! He loves wearing his cape (receiving blanket) and makes the funniest faces. He calls Rylie Sis or Sissy.

They are really becoming two peas in a pod! If they can't see the other one they get very concerned and call for each other. They give each other hugs and kisses without us asking them too, which melts my heart.  They hold hands while sitting in their highchairs and they are amazing! The light of our lives.

More to come.....

1st swim!

Yesterday we took the babies for their first swim and they did great! My parents and J's parents both have pools and we have intended so many times to take them swimming but our schedules are so busy we haven't had time. We took them to J's Dad's yesterday and had so much fun!

At first they were a little hesitant. We tried to get them to believe it's just a big bath tub :). The funny thing is that we had a little floatie for each of them and when I put Max in his he flipped out and started crying and reaching for me. Not 30 seconds after I took him out of it, Jason put Rylie in it and she started giggling and kicking and splashing. All of the sudden Max is pointing at the other floatie and making his little grunting noise that he makes when he wants something. It's like he's thinking "oh, ok. Sister is in it and she's ok so maybe it's not so bad"! Ha ha, silly boy! I can totally see him following suit after his Sister once she deems something ok. She is the more adventurous one right now. Once I put him in the other floatie he was great. He was smiling and giggling and having a grand ol time!

We really had a lot of fun. It made me really miss my Father in Law who has been gone for a year and a half now. All of his kids were at his house swimming and having a great time and he wasn't there to enjoy it. :( It makes me sad. Hopefully he was watching us from above with a smile on his face.
